Varsity Coaches
Coach Hurps- Head Coach (QB/LB)
The 2024 season will be Coach Hurps' seventh year as head coach of the Rockets, and 19th year of coaching football. This is his tenth year as part of the Rockets program, and has led the Rockets to five playoff berths and back to back MSL Championships in 2020 and 2021. His record as Head Coach with Berne Union is 39-24. He was previously the head football coach at Fisher Catholic High School for four seasons. He was an assistant coach at Muskingum University for three years and began his coaching career at Newark Catholic High School as an assistant for two years.
Coach Hurps is a Physical Education & Health teacher at Berne Union. He played collegiately at the University of Dayton as tailback and was a four-year letterman. He and his wife, Alicia, and their three children reside in Lancaster.
Coach Eyerman - Defensive Coordinator (RB/DB)
This will be Coach Eyerman's seventh year with Berne Union. Coach Eyerman spent the previous three years at New Richmond High School in Indiana, and the last two as defensive coordinator. Prior to coaching at New Richmond he coached with Coach Hurps at Fisher Catholic as defensive coordinator and offensive line coach for two years.
Coach Eyerman works at Lancaster city schoolsl. Coach Eyerman played collegiately at Bethany College. He and his wife, Mallory, and their son Wyattreside in Lancaster.
Coach Cupp- Offensive Coordinator (WR/CB)
The 2024 season will be Coach Cupp's tenth year coaching at Berne Union. This will be his second season commanding the offense under Coach Hurps.
Coach Cupp coached varsity football as offensive coordinator at Amanda Clearcreek in 2022. Prior to coaching at Amanda Clearcreek, he has been special teams coordinator, offensive coordinator and coached O-line and D-line here at Berne Union. He began his coaching career at Circleville. Coach Cupp is also the head baseball coach, and led our baseball team to a district championship in 2023.
He and his wife, Ashley, and their dog Wrigley reside in Sugar Grove.
Coach Parker- Varsity Assistant (OL/DL)
The 2024 season will be Coach Parker's second year coaching at Berne Union. He previously coached as an assistant at Amanda Clearcreek high school.
Coach Parker was a stand out Defensive End at Lancaster High School. He played college football at Urbana, and then finished his career at Dakota Wesleyan. Coach Parker resides in Sugar Grove.
Coach Spatar - Varsity Assistant (RB/LB)
The 2024 season will be Coach Spatar's first season as a coach for Berne Union. Previously, he played quarterback at Logan High School.
